Public Notice: Canberra Service Updates and Maintenance Schedule

Official Public Notices for Monday, 23 March 2026
As the new week commences, the ACT Government and City Services have issued several critical updates regarding road infrastructure, public transport adjustments, and seasonal land management across the capital. Residents and commuters are encouraged to review the following notices to minimize disruption to their daily schedules.
Road Infrastructure and Traffic Impacts
Significant progress is being made on the Light Rail Stage 2A and Commonwealth Avenue Bridge projects. Motorists should be aware that the double lane closure on Commonwealth Avenue Northbound, which affected the stretch between Albert Street West and the Parkes Way ramps over the weekend, is scheduled to be lifted at 5:00 am on Monday, 23 March. However, a single lane restriction remains in place southbound near Parkes Way and is expected to continue through 31 March. Reduced speed limits and localized signage are in effect.
- Bunda Street: A total closure remains in effect between Genge Street and Scotts Crossing for ongoing streetscape and hotel development works. Diversions are expected to remain until mid-April.
- Majura Road: Intersection upgrade works continue at the junction of Majura Road and Fairbairn Avenue. Road users should expect delays and follow the established detours until early April.
Transport Canberra Service Alerts
Transport Canberra has confirmed several bus stop closures active as of Monday, 23 March. In the Belconnen region, Bus Stop 4415 will be closed starting Monday morning through to the end of service on Wednesday, 25 March. Passengers who typically utilize this stop should seek alternative boarding points at the nearest adjacent stops. Furthermore, Bus Stop 1279 in Tuggeranong remains closed as part of a scheduled maintenance block that will continue until 30 March.
Sportsgrounds and Suburban Maintenance
The biannual renovation of the city's sports infrastructure is currently in full effect. Most ACT Government turf sportsgrounds are closed for a two-week maintenance window that began on 18 March. During this period, crews are undertaking essential seeding and goal post installations to prepare for the winter season. Targeted work is occurring at grounds in Woden, Weston Creek, Molonglo, and Gungahlin.
General maintenance and horticultural activities for the week of 23 March include:
- Mowing Schedules: Active mowing is planned for the suburbs of Barton, Downer, Kingston, Lyneham, Watson, and Yarralumla, as well as along Adelaide Avenue and Lady Denman Drive.
- Tree Care: Watering programs are intensified in newer suburbs such as Denman Prospect, Taylor, and Throsby. Pruning and safety inspections are currently focused on the Curtin, Duffy, and Ngunnawal areas.
- Pest Management: Rabbit control measures are being implemented at Grevillea District Park to protect local biodiversity.
Health and Community Consultation
The ACT Government Gazette for 23 March includes official updates regarding Canberra Health Services staffing and administrative adjustments. On a broader scale, the federal government has officially released the National Cultural Policy consultation paper for public review today. Canberrans are invited to provide feedback on this strategic document through official channels to help shape the region's artistic and cultural priorities.
