Public Notice: Essential Roadworks and Health Advisories for February 17

Scheduled Road Maintenance and Traffic Impacts
The ACT Government has scheduled several essential road maintenance projects for Tuesday, 17 February 2026. Motorists should anticipate delays and are encouraged to plan alternative routes to avoid congestion in affected suburbs.
- Gowrie: Lane closures will be in effect on Castleton Crescent, between Sternberg Crescent and Bugden Avenue, from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm for asphalt resealing.
- Gungahlin: Scheduled night works will result in road closures on Anthony Rolfe Avenue, specifically from Kate Crace Street to Alice Cummins Street, between 8:00 pm and 6:00 am.
- Hawker: Ongoing maintenance will cause lane closures at Hawker Place, from Beetaloo Street to Springvale Drive, between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
- Mitchell: Localized resurfacing will necessitate night closures on Pelle Street (Hoskins to Dacre) and Buckland Street (Brookes to Grimwade) from 8:00 pm until 6:00 am the following morning.
- Parkes and City Center: Commonwealth Avenue continues to experience intermittent lane reductions in both directions between Parkes Way and Albert Street. These works are part of the Light Rail Stage 2A infrastructure project and are primarily focused on bridge deck construction.
Public Health Advisories
ACT Health and the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) have issued the following active updates for the Canberra community:
- Safety Alert: The TGA has issued an urgent safety advisory regarding Natures Valley Collagen Builder tablets. This product has been identified as posing a potential serious risk to health. Residents are advised to stop consumption immediately and dispose of any remaining stock. If you have consumed this product and feel unwell, please consult a medical professional.
- Digital Health Record Updates: New accessibility features are now active across the Digital Health Record (DHR) system. Canberrans can now voluntarily update their MyDHR profile to include specific access requirements. This includes preferences for Auslan interpreters, large-print documentation, or low-sensory environment needs, ensuring Canberra Health Services staff can provide appropriate adjustments during patient visits.
Community and Public Service Reminders
Canberrans are reminded of the following service announcements and deadlines active this Tuesday:
- School Zone Enforcement: With the first term of 2026 well underway, 40km/h school zones remain in effect during peak morning and afternoon periods. Drivers are reminded to exercise extreme caution and watch for children near school crossings.
- Public Consultation: Public feedback is still being sought for the independent inquiry into the future of Canberra’s community clubs. The inquiry is examining ways to reduce reliance on gaming machines while ensuring the long-term sustainability of the sector.
- Recruitment Deadline: Applications for the Service Support Officer role within Access Canberra (Administrative Services Officer Class 4) close today, 17 February. Qualified candidates should ensure their submissions are finalized via the ACT Government jobs portal before the close of business.
