Commencement of Bunda Street Infrastructure Upgrades

The ACT Government advises that significant upgrade works on Bunda Street in the City Centre will begin on Tuesday, 10 March 2026. As part of these essential improvements, Bunda Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic between Genge Street and Scotts Crossing. This closure is scheduled to remain in place until Sunday, 19 April 2026, weather and site conditions permitting.

Motorists are advised to utilize detours via Cooyong Street or London Circuit to navigate around the construction zone. Local access for delivery vehicles and businesses within the cordoned area will be managed by on-site traffic controllers during off-peak hours. Pedestrian access to shopfronts will be maintained throughout the project duration.

Ongoing Impacts: Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Renewal

As the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Renewal project continues throughout the month of March, commuters should expect persistent delays. A major southbound lane closure remains active on Commonwealth Avenue near Parkes Way and is scheduled to continue until 31 March 2026. Intermittent lane reductions and median work are also expected across both the northbound and southbound spans during nighttime hours.

Transport Canberra recommends that residents traveling from the south allow for at least 15 minutes of additional travel time during morning peak periods. Signage and variable message boards are in place to provide real-time updates on traffic flow and lane availability.

Post-Enlighten Festival Pack-Down and Transport Update

Following the conclusion of the Enlighten Festival on Monday, 9 March, work crews will begin the pack-down of major art installations and projection equipment in the National Triangle starting today, Tuesday, 10 March. While nightly road closures associated with the festival have now ceased, minor path diversions may still be in place around the Parliamentary Zone as heavy machinery is used to remove festival infrastructure.

Transport Canberra services have returned to their regular weekday schedules today after the Canberra Day public holiday. Passengers are reminded that the revised 2026 Bus Network, which includes adjustments to accommodate the Commonwealth Avenue bridge works, remains in effect. The special Enlighten shuttle buses have ceased operations.

Administrative Deadlines: ACT Government Gazette

Official notices published in the ACT Government Gazette remind stakeholders that today, Tuesday, 10 March 2026, marks the final day for several administrative submissions and contact inquiries. Parties interested in recently gazetted positions or public consultations must ensure all documentation is submitted by the Close of Business (COB) today. Specific inquiries regarding the ongoing Health Services renal unit staffing and medical practitioner determinations should be directed to the relevant department officers before the end of the business day.

Upcoming Regional Impacts

Looking ahead, residents in the Molonglo Valley are reminded of a planned temporary closure of Coppins Crossing Road. While the road remains open today, a full closure between Holborow Avenue and Hazel Hawke Avenue is scheduled to begin at 2:00 am this coming Thursday, 12 March, to facilitate construction of the new Molonglo River Bridge.
