Public Notice: Roadwork Schedule and Seasonal Park Maintenance for March 11

Traffic and Road Closures
The ACT Government has issued several traffic advisories for Wednesday, 11 March 2026, as part of the annual road resurfacing and maintenance program. Motorists are advised to plan for delays or seek alternative routes in the following areas:
- Amaroo: Shoalhaven Avenue, between Mirrabei Drive and Katherina Avenue, will experience lane closures from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm for resealing works.
- Canberra City: A slow lane closure will be in effect on Parkes Way (westbound) from Commonwealth Avenue to the Acton Tunnel between 8:00 pm and 5:00 am for asphalt resurfacing.
- Weston: Heysen Street, between Devenport Street and Hilder Street, will have lane closures from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Namatjira Drive: A full road closure is scheduled between Conder Street and Dillon Close from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm for resealing.
- Bunda Street: The ongoing closure between Genge Street and Scotts Crossing remains in effect as part of major street upgrades, with diversions expected until mid-April.
Recreational and Waterway Advisories
Health and safety advisories are currently active for several local waterways. Residents are urged to observe all posted signage regarding water quality:
- Beach Closures: Bargang, Bimbi, Yerra, Dulwa, and Nengi Bamir beaches are currently closed to swimming due to elevated bacteria levels.
- River Access: Swimming areas at the Cotter Campground and Murray's Corner are also closed until further notice following recent water quality testing.
- Namadgi National Park: Woods Reserve campground remains closed for significant facility upgrades. Additionally, the Gibraltar Falls viewing platform and walking track are closed for safety infrastructure improvements.
Municipal Maintenance Updates
City Services crews are conducting routine maintenance and seasonal preparations across the region today:
- Mowing: Operations are active in the suburbs of Dunlop, Melba, Chapman, Farrer, Pearce, Stirling, and Torrens. Scheduling is also set for Barton, Downer, and Yarralumla.
- Pest Control: Rabbit control measures are being carried out today at Grevillea District Park; visitors should keep dogs on leads and follow on-site instructions.
- Waste Management: Residents are reminded that bin collection times may vary due to route adjustments. Please ensure all household bins are placed at the kerbside by 7:00 am to avoid missed collections.
