Official Public Notice Roundup: Friday, 13 February 2026
The following official notices and public service announcements are active for Friday, 13 February 2026. Residents and commuters are advised to review these updates from Infrastructure Canberra and City Services to plan their travel and activities accordingly.
Major Transport Alert: Light Rail Stage 2A Construction
Significant road closures and lane reductions are in effect this weekend to facilitate the construction of the new light rail bridge deck over Parkes Way. Commuters should expect the following disruptions starting today:
- Commonwealth Avenue (Northbound): The section between Parkes Way and Vernon Circle remains closed. This closure, which commenced at 8:00 PM on Thursday, 12 February, will continue until 6:00 AM on Monday, 16 February. Northbound traffic is being detoured via the Parkes Way on-ramp to the Lawson Crescent exit, Edinburgh Avenue, and Vernon Circle.
- Parkes Way Westbound Ramp: Starting at 8:00 PM tonight, Friday, 13 February, the westbound ramp from Parkes Way to Commonwealth Avenue southbound will be closed. This closure is scheduled to remain in place until 6:00 AM on Monday. Southbound traffic is advised to detour via London Circuit East.
- Pedestrian and Cyclist Access: While road traffic is diverted, pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained via the shared path over Parkes Way, except during specific heavy-lift operations where short-term holds may occur.
City Services and Environmental Maintenance
ACT City Services has issued several maintenance notices for the current period:
- Rabbit Control Operations: Intensive rabbit control measures are active this week on the north-western grassland sections located between London Circuit and Vernon Circle. Signage has been installed to alert the public; please keep pets on leads when traversing these areas.
- Summer Mowing Schedule: Crews are prioritising mowing and slashing in the suburbs of Crace and Palmerston today. Motorists should be aware of slow-moving machinery operating on road verges.
- Roadside Maintenance: Litter collection and asphalt patching are underway on the Monaro Highway, Oaks Estate Road, and Pialligo Avenue. Please adhere to reduced speed limits in work zones.
Regional Infrastructure and Facility Updates
Infrastructure works continue in the Territory’s south and west:
- Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve: The demolition of the former visitor centre building is ongoing. While the temporary visitor centre remains open, visitors may experience minor traffic impacts and noise in the vicinity of the demolition site. Rehabilitation of the area with native grass species will follow.
- Mugga Lane Resource Management Centre: Pavement resurfacing continues in the evenings. While operating hours for the public are unaffected, contractors should prepare for changed traffic conditions during evening drop-offs.
For the latest updates on public transport diversions, commuters are encouraged to check the Transport Canberra journey planner, as several bus routes have been rerouted due to the Commonwealth Avenue closures.
