Official Notice: Major Traffic Alerts and Health Advisories for Sunday, March 1

Significant Traffic Disruptions and Road Closures
The ACT Government advises motorists to expect significant delays across the Canberra road network this Sunday, 1 March 2026, due to a combination of major infrastructure projects and the ongoing Enlighten Festival. Residents and visitors are urged to plan their travel in advance and utilize detour routes where possible.
- Commonwealth Avenue: A full closure of Commonwealth Avenue northbound is in effect between the Parkes Way ramps and Vernon Circle. This closure remains active until 5:00 am Monday morning. Southbound travel is restricted to a single lane. These changes are essential for the progress of the Light Rail Stage 2A construction.
- Monaro Highway: Lanyon Drive is closed between the northbound and southbound carriageways of the Monaro Highway. This closure is scheduled to lift at 5:00 am on Monday, 2 March.
- National Triangle: In support of the Enlighten Festival, nightly road closures are in place from 5:00 pm until midnight. Affected areas include King Edward Terrace and King George Terrace between Parkes Place East and West.
Residential Maintenance and Local Roadwork
Road maintenance crews will be active in several suburbs this Sunday. Please adhere to all posted signage and reduced speed limits in these zones.
- Curtin: Theodore Street will be closed from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm between Carruthers Street and Marrawah Street for road resealing operations.
- Deakin: The State Circle off-ramp to Adelaide Avenue will be closed for asphalt patching between 8:00 pm Sunday and 5:00 am Monday.
- Harrison: Well Station Drive, between Flemington Road and Kings Canyon Street, will be closed for night works starting at 9:00 pm.
