Public Notice: Traffic, Waste, and Community Advisories for Monday, 16 February

ACT Roadworks and Traffic Management
Commuters are advised of several significant traffic changes and roadwork projects active across the Canberra network today, Monday, 16 February 2026. While several major weekend closures are scheduled to conclude this morning, ongoing infrastructure projects will continue to impact travel times.
- Commonwealth Avenue: Northbound lanes between Parkes Way and Vernon Circle, which were closed over the weekend, are scheduled to reopen at 5:00 am today. However, intermittent lane reductions will persist throughout February to support Light Rail Stage 2A bridge deck construction.
- Parkes Way Ramp: The westbound ramp from Parkes Way to Commonwealth Avenue southbound is scheduled to reopen at 6:00 am following essential utility works.
- Athllon Drive: A reduced speed limit of 40km/h remains in effect between Drakeford Drive and Vosper Street. This measure is part of ongoing utility service upgrades and is expected to remain in place until late February.
- Monaro Highway: Northbound traffic continues to be diverted to the eastern side of the new Dog Trap Creek Bridge near Hume. While two lanes are being maintained during peak periods, motorists should exercise caution.
- Road Resurfacing: Maintenance crews are scheduled to conduct resealing and repairs today on various residential streets. Motorists should be prepared for localized lane closures and minor delays in affected areas.
Household Waste and Recycling Collections
Standard household waste collection services will proceed as scheduled today. Residents in the following suburbs should ensure their bins are placed on the kerbside by 7:00 am:
- Waramanga, Weston, Whitlam, Wright, and Yarralumla.
The ACT Government reminds residents to leave a gap of at least 30cm between bins to allow for automated collection arms. Residents in the Belconnen FOGO pilot area are also encouraged to check their specific weekly schedules for organic waste pickup.
Public Health and Community Notices
Canberra Health Services has highlighted a new update to the Digital Health Record (DHR) system. As of this week, Canberrans can voluntarily identify specific access needs through the MyDHR portal. This initiative is designed to help clinical staff make reasonable adjustments, such as arranging quiet sensory areas or providing Easy Read documentation, before a patient arrives for an appointment.
Additionally, the 2026 Bald Archy Prize exhibition is now open to the public at the Watson Arts Centre. The winning work, "Emperor Australis" by Mark Davis, will be on display alongside other finalists until March 15. The exhibition is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 am, Tuesday through Friday, and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on weekends.
